Part of the Journey

We’d like to introduce our new Director of Admissions and Advancement, Gillian Doucet Campbell!

GillianGillian’s primary role is to connect families to HDCH. However, she will also oversee alumni relations, capital campaigns and legacy giving.

“HDCH has an incredible foundation, and a solid presence,” says Gillian. “I’m pumped about what the future holds and incredibly honoured that I get to be a part of the journey.”

Gillian has spent the majority of her career in Christian education. She started doing recruitment for Providence Theological Seminary, and then moved to Canadian Mennonite University as the Assistant Director of Enrollment. When her family moved to Hamilton, she took the role of Manager of Alumni Relations with Hillfield Strathallan College.

“I have a passion for quality Christian education that is built on the love of Christ,” says Gillian. “The ‘Christian’ part should not be a value-add. Rather it needs to permeate through everything the school offers; from learning in the classroom to the community that is developed. And I think HDCH does that very well and with intention.”

Most recently, Gillian worked for the Anglican Church of Canada in Major Gifts and Legacy Giving. Her dynamic work history and developed passions make her an incredible asset to our administrative team.

“As Christians, our financial giving is a response to God’s movement in our life,” says Gillian. “It’s an expression of our desire to honour God in all we do, and it’s also about being able to accept the generosity given to us. When I see a donor make a transformative gift, it’s an incredible thing. The size of gift is not the ‘transformative’ part. Rather, it’s the intentionality of the gift from the head and heart.”

Gillian graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts. She continued her education at Providence Theological Seminary (PTS) and obtained her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. But after a year of ruminating over sessions with clients in her private practice, Gillian knew she needed a change for her own mental health. When PTS asked if she would like to take on the role of Admissions for the Seminary, she jumped at the opportunity! Since then, Gillian has also received a Graduate Certificate in Fundraising and Resource Development (Georgian College) as well as her CFRE credentials.

Fam pic icebergGillian is celebrating 11 years of marriage to her partner, Steve. Together they have two wondrous and inquisitive daughters, ages 6 and 8, along with two cats named Gustav and Lucia. She’s lived in seven of Canada’s ten provinces, and enjoys helping small charities plan their fundraising activities in her spare time.

Feel free to reach out to Gillian and say hello! If you have questions regarding enrollment or wish to express your gratitude to HDCH through you time, talents or treasures, she would love to hear from you.
